League Weekend 15 Review Part 2
Alton are off the bottom of London 3 after coming from behind to beat Old Freemen's at Anstey Park. Andover now prop up the table following their 41-16 home defeat at the hands of fellow relegation-strugglers Vandals.
There is now daylight at the top with Old Alleynians opening up a four-point lead over Sandown and Shanklin. The old boys won 30-13 at Purley John Fisher but Sandown came unstuck at Old Wellingtonians, losing 15-8.
KCS Old Boys are back in the mix at the top, however, and now lie third after thumping a below-par Winchester 33-0 and all but ending the city side's promotion hopes.
Ellingham and Ringwood, Alton's opponents this Saturday, scored 30 unanswered points against mid-table Old Blues.
Eastleigh have opened up a four-point lead over long-time Snows Group Hampshire One leaders Fordingbridge. While 'Bridge were slipping to a surprise 25-5 defeat at Burnaby Road at the hands of United Services, Eastleigh were putting 79 points on Nomads. Meanwhile, at Penns Place Petersfield dispatched Isle of Wight 33-17 and now lie seventh in the table.
Back at Anstey Park, Alton's younger sides were full of win in yesterdays games.
The Colts hammered Basingstoke 43-10 in their Hampshire League encounter, while the U16s ran out 46-0 victors in their friendly with New Milton. The U15s made it a hat-trick with a 24-7 triumph against Guernsey but the U13s slipped to an agonising injury-time defeat at Portsmouth.
