League Weekend 16 Preview
Alton's two Senior teams are in action this weekend - the first time for nearly two months that the club has managed to field two squads.
The 1sts will be aiming to build on last week's victory against Old Freemen's when they take the long trip to Ellingham and Ringwood. The New Foresters are lying mid-table but they put in one of their best performances of the season last Saturday in beating Old Blues 30-0.
The Super Seconds are at Fortress Anstey where they will aiming for their eighth straight Snows Group Merit One win against Trojans III. Yes, that's eight.
Additionally, the clubhouse will be screening tomorrow's Saturday Six Nations games as well as Ireland v Wales on Sunday (15:00 kick-off).
If that is not enough rugby for you, Alton's Junior sides are also in action on Sunday.
The Colts are trying to arrange a home game (with a proposed 14:00 kick-off) but the U16s are scheduled to take the field for a Development game against Fawley at Anstey (also 14:00).
Also at Le Parc de Anstey, the U14s are in league action against Jersey (13:00) while the U15s hit the A3 for an away game at Guildford.
Kicking everything off on Sunday morning, however, are the U13s, who host Overton in the Hampshire U13 Plate (11:00).
Back on the Senior front, London 3SW sees a couple of mighty battles that could have a bearing on the promotion race.
Leaders Old Alleynians host much-improved Old Wellingtonians while on the Isle of Wight it's second versus third with Sandown and Shanklin entertaining KCS Old Boys.
At the other end of the table, bottom club Andover have a tough assignment at Old Blues while it's a relegation eight-pointer on the banks of the Thames, where Vandals host Purley. In L3SW's other game, Winchester host Old Freemen's.
In Snows Group Hampshire One, the top two should secure a minimum of four points: Eastleigh are at Lytchett Minster while Fordingbridge host Farnborough, Petersfield have a tough trip to in-form New Milton.
