Return to Rugby
This season Alton RFC are part of the RFU's Return to Rugby programme - a national campaign to encourage people to dust off their boots and get back in the game. The programme is supported by James Haskell and Dom Joly and more information can be found here - www.returntorugby.com.
The club would like to build on recent momentum and are keen to encourage people back to the game with the ambition of bulking out the 2nd team and Masters squads, potentially putting out an occasional 3rd team and potentially fielding two colts teams. The programme launches now with the first official Return to Rugby session being held at Anstey Park on Thursday 18th August. Following this launch date, Return to Rugby sessions will take place on Tuesday evenings with the specialist support of RFU Community Coach Pierre Clark who will be on hand to run beginner/returner sessions alongside the main club session. These will be fun, game based sessions to help new and returning players sharpen their skills in a safe environment.
How can I get involved:
• Current Players - be aware of the campaign and if you see someone new at
training be welcoming and supportive!
• Returning players - we'd love to see you back! Dust off your boots and
register for the sessions at www.returntorugby.com
to let us know you're coming! Or let us know what it would take to bring
you back!
• All - spread the word through social media using the #returntorugby and
encourage as many people as you can to attend the launch session on 18th
August.
o Look out for incentives from the club for 'most retweets' and 'most famous
retweet' on certain messages.
Please do help us make this campaign a success and we look forward to seeing a
good number of you back at the club this coming season!
