Welcome to the Colts.

The Colts squad is comprised of the Under 17, Under 18 and Under 19 age groups and competes in the Hampshire Colts League, the Hampshire Seventeens Cup, and the National Colts Cup.

One of the purposes of Colts rugby is to bridge the gap between junior and senior rugby and the older players are actively encouraged to play senior (e.g. 2nd XV) games on weekends when there is no competitive Colts game.  Indeed, a significant number of players in the current 1st and 2nd XV squads have come through the Colts system at Alton.

Recent successes include winning the Hampshire Colts League Plate in 2008/9, sharing the Hampshire Seventeens Plate in 2006/7 after a drawn final, and winning Alton’s own junior 7-a-side tournament at the Under 17 age group in 2007.

The squad’s social side is enhanced by its touring exploits in foreign parts, which in recent years has included trips to France (twice), Belgium and Italy.
 
Training takes place on Thursday evenings from 19:00 to 21:00.  Matches take place at 14:00 on Sundays with very little exception and the very full fixture list ensures that there is rarely a week without a game.

The Colts squad is currently 30 strong. We welcome new players at any point in the season - they can be sure of a friendly atmosphere where the emphasis is on enjoying the game and sharing sporting success.
