ARSE's Golf Day is a Ripper!

More thanr 22 players enjoyed a magnificent day’s golf at this prestigious course and afterwards enjoyed the bar and food even more!

Organiser John Grace commented, “The event was a great success and the fact that Tiger Woods was not available, meant that many of the players enjoyed their game more than usual.”

He added, “We are very hopeful that the likes of Westwood, Rose, Poulter and Harrington will look at the scores achieved today and give us a wide birth so we can continue playing the kind of golf seen today."

In fact, many thought that Ryder Cup officials should look closely at the Worldham Course as it proved quite challenging in many aspects - something most players that day could sympathise with.

The event took place in glorious sunshine but with a strong breeze blowing in from a direction. However, undeterred, the players competed in both individual and team events through the 18 holes played.

After a thrilling round by all players, cards were handed in to find out this year's winner for the four trophies up for grabs.

These were:

  • Best Individual Stableford Score (A.R.S.E Bandit);
  • Longest Drive (A.R.S.E Swipe);
  • Closest to the Pin (A.R.S.E Hole);
  • Best Team Score (A.R.S.E Club);

This years A.R.S.E Bandit was Paul Knight, with a rather impressive round. Commenting on his victory, Paul stated, “Ripper, mate. That’s absolutely bonzer!” He then had to “donate” his winnings to charity.

The A.R.S.E Swipe belonged to Alan Brown, whilst this year's A.R.S.E Hole was Chris Izzard.

In the Ladies' competition, the awards were evenly split between Gill Stubbs and Lynda Grace. Well done, Ladies!

The team award was presented to Paul Knight, Malcolm Osborne, Dave Osborne Snr and Simon Doel.

During the presentations, all participants were fined for non-golfing etiquette (mobile phone use, ladies' tee violations etc) and again, this money was donated to the “Captains” charity.

Altogether a fantastic day. We look forward to seeing you next year.
