Alton Rugby Football Club

Eight Bells top the Pub League

This year Alton RFC ran a touch-rugby league, which was well supported by a number of local pubs in the area.

The Crown, The Hop Poles, The Weybridge, The Eight Bells, The White Hart, The Gentleman's Jim all entered teams into the league, with some rugby club members assigned to each team.

The league ran for six weeks with the players residing to one of the pubs for post-match food each week.

Each week saw around 60 people running around at Anstey Park, a great mix of people of all ages and abilities- some who had never seen a rugby ball before!

The League finished with Eight Bells on top, closely followed by Hop Poles and the Weybridge in third place.

The league will finish with a Finals day to conclude the summer's activities held on 30th August at the club, as a curtain-raiser to the Men's 1st/2nd team matches against Old Hamptonians.

Touch rugby will start at 12noon, followed by BBQ and then hang around for a few beers to watch the boys in action!!
