Alton U16's Have a Better Second Half

Sun 21 Feb 2010, 11:00

Bracknell

22 - 17

Alton

Alton U16's partially redeem themselves after a very poor first half performance.

A week of half-term, combined with a Saturday night of parties and absentees due to the holiday period, meant that the team turned up in a shocking state.
Poor preparation was carried on to the pitch and a hugely embarrassing first half performance saw Alton 3 scores down against a fairly average Bracknell side.
A shining light in the otherwise grey performance was Kian O’Hara, whose tackling and work-rate was exemplary.

Half way through the second half, when the game had been well and truly surrendered following a 4th Bracknell try, Alton regained some dignity with a great break by Adam Gallagher, who ran in a try from 50 metres.
Ollie Whitehead reduced the deficit with a dramatic corner-post score and Tom Willis scored an individual try from a free kick. Improbably, Alton could have scored a match equalling try in the last 5 minutes, but Bracknell hung on to win a deserved victory.

Lessons from the game

1. Go to bed on a Saturday night.
2. When you tackle the opposition, get on your feet and PICK THE BALL UP!!!
3. Play the game in the right part of the pitch.
