Alton

Alton were a little stretched today with a 15 aside game against Haslemere and a 7 aside tournament in New Milton.
It was a very mixed squad that attended New Milton with 4 of the squad of 9 playing in their first ever 7's tournament. Alton lost their pool matches as the new players adjusted to the different mind set required for this format of Rugby. However in the plate semi final they overcame a New Milton team to reach the finals of the plate competition.
In the Finals they came up against Bournemouth who had previously beaten them in the pool stages and despite scoring first were unable to maintain the defensive formations required and so became runners up in the plate competition.
Alton conceded 85 points and scored 45 during the five matches.
Alton Tries were scored by Josh Saunders (3) and Douglas Wickes (6). There were no conversations at this age group.
A useful experience for the four new players and a reminder to the rest of the squad that you have to get many things right on the day to succeed.
