Petersfield
Alton

On a beautiful, bright, sunny day Alton U11’s were at Petersfield for our first tournament of the season. The rugby played by the boys matched the weather in a tournament run in a round robin-style, against four other teams from Gosport & Fareham, Petersfield, U.S Portsmouth and Farnham.
The first game saw a convincing win against Gosport & Fareham in a fantastic display from the Alton boys. On two occasions our forwards won scrums against the head (and against a much bigger group of forwards!) Next up was the home side Petersfield. This was an exciting end-to-end game, with some great tackles from both sides and some great running from the backs.
A final score of 0-0 was probably a fair one, both sides coming close to the try line. Alton subsequently beat U.S Portsmouth by two tries to nil and went into their final match against Farnham knowing that a win would seal the tournament. In a highly competitive match that was exciting to watch and a great advert for rugby, the final score was 0-0.
However, the rugby played by both sides does not reflect the score. Both Alton & Farnham came close to scoring, only for a last- gasp try-saving tackle to save the day! The skill shown by Alton in the tackle area and set pieces was great to see. Their passing, running lines, support play and commitment to each other was fantastic to watch and shows that all the hard work is paying off.
Well done everyone!
