Under 8s make it to Plate Final

The final tag tournament for the Under 8s took place on the Isle of Wight. Five of the squad got together with families in tow on the Friday evening, on the understanding that what went on on tour stayed on tour!! This understanding was probably more appropriate for some of the fathers by the end of the weekend!

Another bright but windy day resulted in everybody securing yet another weather beaten look. The Pool Competition began with 2 closely fought draws against North Dorset and Basingstoke. The team then secured a victory over the Beccehamian Pirates. This was an extremely nerve racking game with neither side scoring during the second half. This was the result of both teams taking a physical approach to the game - a sign that the age group are ready for contact. A well organised Romsey Wasps won the last game of the Pool which left Alton securing 4th place in their group.

Once in the Plate Competition the squad really began to play their best rugby, beating Heathfield B 6-4 in the Quarter-final and Beccehamian Vikings 6-5 in the Semi. The squad unfortunately lost to Chichester in the Final.

It was a good day which finished off a great weekend. Roll on September!
