Under 8s reach the Semi Final of the Shield

The Under 8s put in another strong performance, on a clear sunny day at the Havant Tournament, finishing second in their group behind a very strong Brighton side.

The squad started slowly drawing their first game against Wimborne and then losing a closely fought game to Pulborough. The pressure was now on and the team responded strongly and positively with some great free flowing tag rugby, beating the Havant Sharks and Brighton (the eventual Shield winners). The Brighton Coach being extremely complimentary of the squads attacking and defensive work.

The squad unfortunately lost in the semis to Winchester. This game hinged on one turnover and 2 missed opportunities by Alton to turnover Winchester having got to 6 tags. Again more compliments this time from Winchester on the squad's defensive work.

The squad were hugely disappointed but they took pride from the way they had played especially when under pressure to win their 2 final group games and the fact that they had been the only squad to beat the very strong Brighton side.
