U12 Landrover Cup

A great performance from our U12 squad at the Land Rover Cup this morning but they just fell short of making the semi-finals, losing out to Worthing at the group stage by one point.

The boys got off to a great start, with a convincing 4-0, bonus point win over Wimborne, demonstrating the attractive, expansive running rugby that we know they can play. A comfortable 3-0 win over Windsor followed and in our third game we then faced old rivals Bournemouth. We know Bournemouth as a strong side and have suffered some heavy defeats to them in the past. Players, coaches and parents were therefore delighted, following a very hard fought match, when we emerged 1-0 winners.

Our final match was against eventual group winners, Worthing. They proved to be too strong for us on the day, dominating the breakdowns. Our players worked hard in defence but could not stop Worthing from crossing the line twice in the first half and once in the second, the only tries we conceded all day.

It is a shame that we didn't make it out of the group but the boys did themselves and the club proud, on and off the pitch, and were still holding their heads high and smiling and the end of the day, rightly pleased with their performance.

Very well done to the whole squad!
