End of season notes
The Hampshire website has been updated with final league scores and those promoted and relegated within the 3 leagues have been indicated. One can only assume therefore that the 3 league structure will remain on place for next season.
In division 1 next season we will face Portsmouth, Gosport & Fareham, Basingstoke, Petersfield, Winchester and New Milton. Just like this season, there are no easy games there so it'll be our objective to get at least 2 wins and stay in division 1 for the U16 season.
Division 2 will comprise Jersey, Trojans, Tottonians, Havant, Fordingbridge and Ellingham & Ringwood.
Division 3 will comprise Farnborough, Eastleigh, Romsey, Vectis, Fawley, Andover.
There has been talk of a possible "A team" league for squads who have sufficient numbers to field two teams. As we have 30/31 players we are not in a position to do this (and have subs) but we will be seeking friendly fixtures with clubs that do have A and B squads to maximise game time for everyone. A bit of extra recruitment over the Summer, particularly to bring in more backs, should help with this.
U15 rugby next season - there are only 2 changes to the laws/Junior variations for next season. First is that we use a full size 5 ball instead of size 4, second is that we play 30 minute halves instead of 25 minutes each way. Fitness is therefore vital so keep active in the Summer and be ready for pre-season training throughout August. Everything else will be as per U14 laws we played this season. After Christmas we will start to train for lifting in the line out in readiness for U16 rugby the season after.
Presentations day is Sunday 16th May at the Assembly Rooms in Alton. Let's have a full turn out please, in number 1s, and enjoy the day; we've had a very successful season so let's see it off in style. There will be 4 player awards in the following categories:-
Coaches' Award, Endeavour Award, Most Improved Player and Players' Player.
