Match vs. Vectis, Sunday 8th

Meet at Anstey Park at 08:15, the coach will leave promptly at 08:30 as we have a scheduled ferry to catch to the Isle of Wight.  Please bring £10 per head to cover coach and ferry costs. We'll be kicking off in our match against Vectis at 12:30.

This is a friendly fixture to be played as 3 x 20 minute thirds, with an expected Alton squad of 23 or 24 players everyone will be getting a minimum of 20 minutes game time.

Dress code is No.1's for players, match shirts will be provided, please bring your own shirt for training. Please also bring your own food/snacks to eat en route (there are usually long queues on the ferry!)

Hampshire RFU have warned us that Wightlink, the ferry company, have had trouble recently from a football club making the trip over to the island. Best behaviour is expected, remember that you're ambassadors for the club and your sport! Our estimated return time is 18:30.

Staying Warm and Dry

Ady Blizzard has issued the new U14s waterproof tops (sponsored by Sony DADC) to those who trained last Sunday. If you didn't get your new top yet they will be available on both Thursday evening and Sunday. These should be considered as mandatory for all sessions until the weather picks up again in the Spring. Please remember that these waterproofs are club kit and will need to be handed back in at the end of the season.

You will also have noticed that our new playing shirts are of a much lighter fabric than a traditional rugby jersey.  It's therefore essential that players wear underlayers, ideally long sleeved, in order to maintain their body heat. During training and particularly when standing around as a sub, it's vital that players have several layers (tops and bottoms) and a waterproof in order to stay warm and dry. This applies to both Sundays and Thursdays. Kitbags should also contain a waterproof bag for wet kit after the game/training.
